In this book study and practice group, these are the aspects we choose to embrace by our meeting together: Mindfulness, Self-Care, Self-Compassion, Loving-Kindness, Awakening Joy, Self-Acceptance, and Inner Peace.

Books will be chosen to assist us in these and similar concepts. We will incorporate mindfulness and meditation practices each week as we read a little in our session and read and do some of the exercises at home. A journal will come most helpful as we travel on the path together.

The first book for the summer will be “Real Happiness” by Sharon Salzberg.

“Real Happiness” is a great initial step into meditation or to fine-tune your practice. It’s a complete guide. It explains how meditation works; why a daily meditation practice results in more resiliency, creativity, peace, clarity, and balance; and gives twelve meditation practices, including mindfulness meditation and walking meditation. Sharon adds an extensive selection of her students’ FAQs covers the most frequent concerns of beginners who meditate―“Is meditation selfish?” “How do I know if I’m doing it right?” “Can I use meditation to manage weight?”

It also contains a 28-day program that we can work on together and support one another. The book is available on Kindle, paperback, and audio. Amazon Link

The September book will be Self-Compassion by Dr. Kristen Neff; we will also use her Self-Compassion Workbook due to be released in mid-August.

There are two groups meeting at our studio, Meditate Madison starting Monday, July 16 at 6:30 pm and Wednesday, July 18 at 6:30 pm. Use the links to register. There are still a few spots available but know there are over 62 people who have expressed interest, some have actually registered and space is limited at the studio.  If you desire to attend, I suggest you register ASAP to secure your space.

Can’t make either Mondays or Wednesdays?

On Saturday mornings at 10:30 am, I offer a meditation instruction class. I will be using meditations from the book from time to time.

You can read the book, participate in either group and attend Saturday mornings as an extra practice session. Or, if you find your schedule doesn’t allow you to attend either the Monday or the Wednesday groups, and you can’t do the online option I mentioned yesterday, Saturdays could be the option that works for you. You can read along with the book schedule, practice at home, and on Saturdays, I can stay after the session to discuss with you any questions or comments you have from the book.

And if you are already attending the groups, Saturday is another way to get in your practice and have questions answered..

Most Saturday mornings I do hold the class. Occasionally there is a workshop or other event held. I always have it posted if there is a different event happening.

The fee for Saturdays is $10.

You can learn more on the website or on the Meditate Madison meetup.-

I hope this option helps those who can’t make the other times!

If there are those interested in a daytime online group, I can hold a group on Mondays at 10 am Central Time if there is enough interest. I intended to start the online group in the fall with the Self-Compassion book and I will still offer it this fall. As an aside, unfortunately, I do not have any evenings available at this time to host the group online. I will be holding an online group using Zoom conferencing (via your computer, smartphone, tablet, or call in) during the daytime for those I know who live outside of Madison who has expressed interest. If you are interested in this, contact me. It will be held on Mondays at 10 am.If you are interested in an online, daytime group on Mondays, please contact me ASAP.

The group fee is $10 with a sliding scale available.

You can pay upfront for the entire 7 sessions at a discount rate of $59

If you purchase our monthly studio subscription for $69 a month, you’ll be able to also attend other sessions of our meditation and other classes, plus 15% off of any of our workshops, and a discount on personal instruction or coaching. Plus you’ll be able to use it for the next book study in September.
